Sheep rustling in Hampshire

Sunday, February 7th 2010 11:18

Dozens of stolen lambs found in South London.

More than forty lambs, stolen from a Hampshire farm, have been found in South West London.

It's after 50 two-week-old lambs, were stolen from three pens at a farm in Upton Grey, near Basingstoke, sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

The farmer was able to identify all 44 sheep found in New Malden, as his own.

Abbatoirs, butchers and farmers in Hampshire had been warned about the possible illegal sale of young lambs.

Experts had feared the animals could die within the next couple of days as they were too young to be bottle-fed and, because of their age, the meat could not have been used for human consumption anyway.
